In addition, the group provides outpatient surgery and endoscopy, imaging, cardiac testing, and infusion services. There is a strong commitment to ensuring patients receive coordinated and comprehensive experience at all locations, guaranteeing that each patient has access to the appropriate level of care throughout the system’s delivery sites. We are seeking a per diem Physician Assistant to support our Inpatient Orthopedics team. The departmental flat rate for this position is $86.00 per hour plus weekend, evening, overnight and holiday differentials. All per diem PAs are required to work a minimum of two shifts per month. Schedules are finalized several months in advance, allowing providers to select from a wide variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Depending on availability, per diem shifts range from 6 to 12 hours in duration. This position is based on the NWH Main Campus at 2014 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02462. In this role, Physician Assistants provide coverage in the Emergency Department, on the inpatient floor, and perform inpatient surgical consults. Providers practice autonomously at the top of their licensure and are responsible for: Presenting and discussing patient evaluations with Attending Surgeons to develop appropriate treatment plans Ordering diagnostic tests and interpreting results Performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to: o Wound care o Tube and drain insertion, care, and removal o Suturing and suture removal o Splint, brace, and cast application and removal o Medication administration (including IV push medications and steroid/anesthetic injections) o Central venous line removal o Electrocardiograms Conducting daily patient rounds Participating in discharge planning Educating and counseling patients and families Orienting medical students, physician assistant students, and surgical residents to the clinical environment, patient care practices, and hospital policies Participating in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives Are you ready to bring your expertise to a collaborative, high-performing team? Job Summary The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.
