About The Position

This Physician Assistant position is crucial for delivering comprehensive care to women with gynecologic cancers in a dynamic academic setting. Working collaboratively with fellows, residents, and nursing staff, the PA provides essential continuity on the inpatient service, particularly valuable given rotating resident schedules. The role requires strong clinical skills, interpersonal sensitivity for oncology patients and families, and the ability to navigate complex environments from routine floor management to ICU coordination. With a census of six to twenty patients, this position offers meaningful work in women's health within a supportive interdisciplinary team that values evidence-based practice and efficient resource utilization.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant required
  • Physician Assistant [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred
  • Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1yr PA experience preferred
  • PA experience in oncology, gynecology, surgery, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
