About The Position

The Surgical Physician Assistant - General Surgery position at Evanston Hospital involves providing comprehensive health care services for a diverse patient population in close collaboration with a team of surgeons and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). The role requires evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients in various surgical specialties, including general surgery, urology, vascular surgery, and orthopedic surgery. The position is part-time, requiring 20 hours per week, with specific hours on Wednesday and Friday, and rotating weekends. Opportunities for covering shifts at other hospitals may also be available.

Requirements

• Current Physician Assistant License in the State of Illinois.
• DEA & Illinois Controlled Substance License.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• One year of Physician Assistant experience preferred.
• Surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive health care services for a diverse patient population.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients in surgical specialties.
• Provide surgical care in various settings including emergency room, operating room, and post-op.
• First assist in emergent operations, primarily in general surgery.
• Perform therapeutic procedures such as bedside wound debridements, I&Ds, catheter placements, and NGT placements.
• Work collaboratively with various health care providers throughout the system.
