The PA fellow will participate in a 12-month training program designed to enhance skills and provide a comprehensive experience in adult critical care medicine, including medical, surgical, cardiothoracic, cardiac, and neurological critical care. Clinical responsibilities will include the acute management and resuscitation of a diverse population with the highest degree of medical complexity and severity in the country—a world-class experience for new graduates looking to bolster their clinical exposure with rigorous training and well-rounded education in various critical care settings, or, alternatively, a valuable opportunity for more seasoned providers who may be considering a transition to this field. Regardless of the motivating factors, PA fellows can expect to complete this program equipped with the skills to manage patients of any acuity. In addition to core rotations, the curriculum will also include rotations dedicated to airway management in the ED and OR, as well as elective rotations in various other subspecialties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program.
  • NCCPA Board Certification (including new graduates who are PANCE eligible).
  • New York State License.
  • Current BLS & ACLS Certifications.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Personal Statement/Letter of Intent.
  • 3 letters of recommendation (including one from program faculty and one from a clinical preceptor for graduates < 2 years).
  • In-Person Interview.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a 12-month training program in adult critical care medicine.
  • Engage in clinical responsibilities including acute management and resuscitation of patients.
  • Complete core rotations in CCU, MICU, SICU, CTICU, Neuro ICU, and Airway Management.
  • Attend didactic sessions including lectures, simulation labs, and professional certifications.
  • Advance through the program with guidance from intensivists, physician fellows, and resident physicians.
