Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA program.
  • Eligible for and/or possess current CA Medical Board Physician Assistant licensure (eligible candidates must be fully licensed by the start of the program).
  • Eligible for and/or possess current DEA licensure (eligible candidates must be fully licensed by the start of the program).
  • Current certification in ACLS and BLS.
  • Previous EMS/ED work experience is highly desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a 14-month program at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center designed to train PAs in Emergency Medicine utilizing didactic and clinical experience.
  • Engage in hands-on clinical training and close supervision provided by NCCPA certified PAs and BE/BC Emergency Physicians.
  • Complete on-site rotations including Surgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Anesthesia, and Respiratory Therapy.
  • Participate in off-site rotations including Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center, San Bernardino County Detention Facility, EMS experience, and time spent at a diabetic youth camp.
  • Attend 4 hours weekly of formal didactic training and discussion, as well as board rounds, journal club, morbidity and mortality conferences, and grand round conference.
  • Achieve certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
