About the position

The Physician Assistant will practice medicine in the Hospital and Clinics where the Electrophysiologist Physician renders care, under the direction and responsible supervision of a Licensed Physician (May be MD or DO). The Physician Assistant in the electrophysiology department evaluates and monitors health status, performs diagnostic and therapeutic services, provides age appropriate education and counseling for disease prevention, risk reduction and health maintenance and coordinates referrals for specialty care or social service support. The PA will provide specialized care specific to the EP service which will include acute and chronic monitoring of pacemakers, AICDs, ILRs, watchman, and complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. Activities will include acute and chronic management of arrhythmia patients pre and post procedure follow-up, perform DCCV cardioversions, implant ILRs(loop recorders), hospitalized patient management and consultation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and monitor health status of patients.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic services.
  • Provide age appropriate education and counseling for disease prevention, risk reduction, and health maintenance.
  • Coordinate referrals for specialty care or social service support.
  • Monitor pacemakers, AICDs, ILRs, watchman, and complex arrhythmias.
  • Manage arrhythmia patients pre and post procedure follow-up.
  • Perform DCCV cardioversions.
  • Implant ILRs (loop recorders).
  • Manage hospitalized patients and provide consultations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Registered or eligible to register with the Minnesota State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 60 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) years experience in cardiovascular specialty or acute care.
