About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) role involves providing primary health care services to individuals of all ages within a community health center setting. The PA works under the supervision of a staff physician and the Medical Director for Community Health Services, focusing on patient care, medical assessments, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to manage both acute and long-term medical needs.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree and graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with National Board Certification (PAC).
  • 2 years of Physician Assistant experience preferred.
  • Licensed to practice as a PA in the state of Michigan.
  • Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Perform complete physical exams, assessments, and record findings.
  • Make independent provider judgments and collaborate with physicians in managing patient needs.
  • Manage medical emergencies effectively.
  • Maintain and review patient records, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures and report results.
  • Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plans.
  • Administer medications and injections as per physician direction and protocols.
  • Instruct patients and families regarding medications, treatment instructions, and health maintenance.
  • Refer patients to other healthcare professionals and community resources as needed.
  • Provide telephone consultations and follow-up calls, triaging patient inquiries.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth through educational endeavors.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Comply with agency policies regarding privacy and patient information.
  • Participate in the after-hours on-call system.
  • Act as a preceptor and role model for medical and nursing students and practitioners in training.
  • Collaborate and consult with supervising physician and peers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, especially during public health emergencies.
