About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. The Physician Assistant participates in the delivery of both in-person and virtual care across Ambulatory Dermatology practice sites, including 221 Longwood Ave., 850 Boylston St., Brigham Faulkner, Westwood, and Foxborough. The PA provides medical dermatology care for established patients within the Dermatology practice and supports procedural care through both assistance and the independent performance of approved clinical functions. Primary responsibilities include general medical dermatology (non-cosmetic) as well as subspecialty care, including but not limited to Wound Care Clinic, Alopecia Clinic, Itch Clinic, and Hidradenitis Suppurativa Clinic. This role includes approximately 30% to 50% virtual dermatology care, as well as participation in the inpatient consult service. The Physician Assistant works closely with the supervising physician in the delivery of both virtual and in-person patient care.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant required
  • Physician Assistant [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred
  • Dermatology experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
