About The Position
Mercy Health - Springfield Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Ohio is seeking an experienced physician assistant to join our growing cardiothoracic surgery service line. This position is crucial for coordinating patient care and providing support to the surgical team. The physician assistant will be responsible for counseling patients about their concerns under the direction of the supervising physician(s) and will round on patients admitted to the hospital, reviewing care plans with nursing staff as established by our physicians. In the operating room, the physician assistant will assist with surgical procedures, and vein harvest experience is required. The role also involves performing physical assessments on patients, completing patient histories, and writing discharge summaries. The physician assistant will have the authority to order medications, treatments, labs, etc., as described and permitted under the Ohio State Medical Board supervision agreement and the Mercy Health Springfield's credentialing boards. Additionally, the physician assistant will be available for call about patient conditions according to a pre-established schedule, which includes holiday responsibilities.
