About The Position

GENERAL OVERVIEW: Identifies and manages medical problems within the Physician Assistant's scope of practice in a critical care setting. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides appropriate patient care to include: completing daily patient care rounds on critical care patients, recording patient medical history and physical assessment, developing plan of care, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting test results, coordinating discharge plan (40%) Accurately documents critical care in electronic medical record (10%) Performs compliant billing of critical care services as and where appropriate (5%) Participates in education process for trainees (including PA fellows), as and where appropriate (15%) Communicates with attending physician regarding plan of care and involves physician in clinical decision making of any issues that are outside the Physician Assistant's knowledge base or scope of practice. (10%) Prepares written prescription orders for drugs as defined in the written agreement between the PA and the supervising physician(s). (10%) Educates patients and family members regarding health and illness prevention, medication and treatment instructions, and recommends community resources as needed. (10%) Performs all other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree
  • Current PA Physician Assistant License or board eligible and must obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • ACLS certification.
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree.
  • 1-3 years’ critical care or emergency experience.
