About The Position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. The Cardiology Physician Assistant (PA), in collaboration with the interprofessional team, manages the care of patients in the Cardiology Department. The PA utilizes specialized advanced knowledge and skills to perform initial and ongoing assessment, diagnosis, education, and disease management to provide comprehensive care to this complex patient population. The Cardiology PA works collaboratively with attending Cardiologists, Fellows, Residents, and Nursing within and across service lines. The Cardiology PA in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, manages the care of outpatients in the Department of Cardiology. This includes evaluation of new Cardiology Consults, performing history and physical exams, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests and evaluating the results. The PA Provides ongoing assessment, diagnosis, education and medication management for patients. The PA will primarily staff face-to-face clinics at the Oklahoma City VA, which includes performing and documenting histories and physical exams in the outpatient setting, and compiling assessments and plans for cardiac issues. The PA will respond to e-consults (chart review consults), and triage and respond to e-referrals and other alerts in the medical record. Other duties may also be assigned to assist the department as determined by the Service Chief. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
