About The Position

The Plastic & Breast Surgery services at WMCHealth is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team. In this dynamic role, the PA will work across ambulatory, inpatient, and operative settings, providing comprehensive care to a diverse cohort of patients throughout their surgical journey. The ideal PA will have a passion for breast and plastic surgery and enjoy providing exceptional evidence-based care, while working as part of a multidisciplinary patient centered care team. The opportunity to work across diverse clinical areas within plastics and breast surgery, managing patients throughout the entire continuum of surgical care. Requirements

  • Board certified Physician Assistant who possesses, or is eligible to obtain, an applicable NYS license, and has an active DEA.
  • Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of surgical experience as a practicing clinical PA, although highly motivated new graduates will also be considered and are encouraged to apply.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Active BLS & ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform comprehensive preoperative and post-operative evaluations for patients undergoing plastic and breast surgical procedures, including detailed history-taking, physical examination, and formulation of differential diagnoses.
  • Assist in the operating room with breast and plastic surgeries.
  • Conduct thorough histories and physical examinations, interpret diagnostic results, and formulate evidence-based care plans as part of the patient care team.
  • Conduct daily rounds on post-surgical inpatient, assessing clinical progress, monitoring for complications, and implementing management plans in collaboration with the surgical team.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized care plans in collaboration with members of the surgical team.
  • Collaborate to optimize perioperative protocols, ensuring safe patient preparation, accurate surgical site verification, and comprehensive postoperative handoff.
  • Educate patients and their family members on diagnoses, treatment options, potential side effects, and symptom management strategies while focused on treating each patient as a whole and individual person.
