About The Position

TMCOne along with Arizona Pediatric Surgery & Urology are currently recruiting for a physician assistant to provide excellent care to the children of Tucson and Southern Arizona. The ideal candidate will help with rounds within the hospital, discharges and new consults. In addition, the PA will receive training in circumcisions to support the existing advanced practitioner. This role is a mix of clinic and hospital based practice, (however, 80% of the time will be spent in the hospital). Monday-Friday, 6am-2pm, no call, no nights/weekends.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved physician assistant program, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Internship and two (2) years' experience strongly preferred.
  • A current Physician's Assistant license in state of Arizona.
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
  • DEA certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Examine patients, prescribe medicine, and order diagnostic tests.
  • Assist in discharge or chronic planning and patient education regarding expectations for recovery and illness.
  • Order labs and x-rays per protocol and ensure the results are viewed and acted on under the guidance of the physician.
  • Complete physical exam, including past history, major medical intervention, medication history, and pertinent family history.
  • Perform urgent procedures including intravenous or arterial line placement, chest tube placement and bronchoscopy in an emergency situation and after contacting attending physician.
  • Review all scheduled patients on a weekly basis with the physicians or surgeons to ensure completeness of evaluation.
  • Perform history and physical exam on any direct admission or transfer when no resident is available.
  • Document each patient visit including findings, outcomes, and course of treatment.
  • Dictate history and physical according to TMC standards of time and format.
  • Document medical information as provided by reference source and physician.
  • Confer with supervising physician regarding difficult and complex issues of patient care.
  • Adhere to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
