About The Position

The position is responsible for providing primary and urgent care to a diverse patient population, focusing on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education, and counseling. The role operates under a Practice Agreement, adhering to established guidelines and within the defined scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences or related field.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Current Physician Assistant license from the California Physician Assistant Board.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Registered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) within the first six months of employment.
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to efficiently use EMR.
  • Ability to perform minor office surgeries, apply casts and splints, and conduct laceration repairs (training provided).
  • Basic X-ray interpretation skills (training provided).
  • Workers Comp experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical exams on all patients, from neonates to geriatric populations.
  • Obtain and document the patient's medical history and identify health risk factors.
  • Diagnose and treat common acute illnesses.
  • Diagnose and treat chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in a safe environment, minimizing medical errors.
  • Support and maintain a culture of safety and quality.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work, x-rays, and EKGs.
  • Provide well childcare, women's healthcare, prenatal care, and family planning services.
  • Prescribe medications and non-pharmacological therapies based on patient diagnoses and health history.
  • Encourage positive health behaviors through education and counseling.
  • Apply standardized care guidelines in clinical practice.
  • Provide health education, counseling, and referrals to other healthcare professionals and community resources.
  • Assess and document patient and/or family psycho-social issues.
  • Treat patients and families with respect and dignity, maintaining high patient satisfaction scores.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other health team members to plan optimal patient care.
  • Work with patients and families to formulate treatment and education plans.
