Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
  • Hold and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
  • Must present proof of current certification(s) through American Health Association or client.
  • Must have three years of experience in the clinical setting.
  • Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within the limits of their training and privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems.
  • Provide immunizations, diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated.
  • Provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries, recognizing emergency conditions to diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders and injuries.
  • Refer complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment.
  • Provide outpatient health care to qualifying beneficiaries as scheduled by the Government.
  • Maintain a program of comprehensive health for the family unit, including preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
  • Perform occupational health exams and military retirement or separations physicals as operationally needed.
  • Perform virtual mental health assessments as part of military periodic health assessments (PHAs).
  • Perform deployment health assessments when operationally needed.
  • May become the primary care manager for a panel of patients at Operational Medicine Clinics.
  • Examine patients, formulate differential diagnostic plans, define and order required diagnostic testing.
  • Interpret examination findings and test results, and implement treatment plans.
  • Answer patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.
  • Prepare records and reports as required in support of services rendered in accordance with established procedures.
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
  • Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee approved medications and immunizations.
  • Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.
  • Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of practice.
  • Establish collaborative rapport with physician, nursing and others to promote and facilitate primary care services.
  • Teach patients and family members healthy regimen and responsibility for achieving wellness.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Attend the daily clinic safety huddle and monthly flight meetings.

Benefits

  • $65.00/hr pay rate (1099)
  • Overage hours authorized on an as-needed basis to complete mission requirements, safe patient care and documentation.
