The Physician provides comprehensive medical care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, including diagnoses and treatment of patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. The Physician will collaborate with Nurses and other healthcare staff to develop and implement treatment plans, prescribe pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions, and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. The Physician will also maintain accurate medical records and adhere to all healthcare regulations and facility policies. Below is just a sample of the amazing reasons to consider working for MEDIKO! MEDIKO was founded 28 years ago by the same physician that still owns and operates it today. As a physician you will report clinically to our Chief Medical Officer. Physicians are not scheduled on weekends or any company recognized holidays. A dedicated nurse will assist you when you see patients. Average patient load is between 15-22 a day per 8-hour day. You will have autonomy to refer individuals to a specialist as needed. Our formulary is very generous and allows you to prescribe the appropriate type of medications based solely on your judgment. You will work alongside a skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner. Our comprehensive and practical Nursing Guidelines are used by Nurses when screening individual patients before you see them. The facility is staffed by licensed healthcare professionals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All behavioral and mental health patients are diagnosed and managed by Licensed Mental Health clinicians and our Psychiatrist. There are protocols for management of new arrivals who may be withdrawing from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, or other substances. Designated medical records clerks will obtain offsite medical records. Our EMR system is very user-friendly a dedicated in-house support team will help train and troubleshoot any issues as needed. The headache of dealing with insurance companies is gone! No Prior Authorizations, no Denials, no Appeals, and no collections. Any areas that you may go to see patients is staffed by security and custody personnel, 24/7. Most new arrivals to the detention center will be released or bonded within the first week, before getting an H&P from medical. MEDIKO provides you with training and orientation to correctional medicine by physicians and staff with decades of experience in this field. We provide and pay for your professional liability insurance (including "retro" coverage, formerly known as "tail" coverage).
