About The Position

Main Line Health, a nationally recognized health system serving the western Philadelphia suburbs, is seeking a visionary System Medical Director for Advanced Heart Failure to lead and expand our growing program. This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of advanced heart failure care across a dynamic, integrated health system. As part of Lankenau Heart Group, a leading cardiovascular team within Main Line Health, the Director will drive clinical innovation, program development, and system-wide integration, ensuring exceptional patient outcomes and sustainable growth. The role also offers opportunities for clinical research and academic collaboration through the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR), supporting innovation and advancing care in advanced heart failure therapies.

Requirements

  • Board-certified in cardiology with advanced training in heart failure and transplant medicine.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of clinical experience, including demonstrated leadership in program development or significant growth of advanced heart failure/VAD programs.
  • Proven ability to manage clinical operations and multidisciplinary teams, with strong strategic planning skills.
  • Expertise in advanced heart failure therapies and device management.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and innovation.
  • Interest in teaching and mentoring within an academic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Advanced Heart Failure and VAD Program across Main Line Health, including clinical operations, quality improvement, and program expansion.
  • Oversee delivery of comprehensive advanced heart failure care, including device-supported therapies (e.g., VAD, ECMO, Impella) and inpatient/outpatient services.
  • Build and strengthen referral networks with Main Line Health groups and private practices to increase patient volume and program reach.
  • Foster a multidisciplinary team-based approach, collaborating with cardiology, CT surgery, and device teams for integrated care delivery.
  • Mentor and supervise clinical staff, with opportunities to develop graduate medical education programs and potentially establish an advanced heart failure fellowship.
  • Engage in clinical research and support academic initiatives aligned with program growth.
  • Lead initiatives to expand outpatient satellite offices and inpatient coverage across the health system.
