Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Medicine (MD/DO)
  • Completion of an accredited Advanced Heart Failure fellowship
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey (or the ability to obtain before appointment)
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Cardiology
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Advanced Heart Failure
  • Meets applicable credentialing and privileging standards for their specialty
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
  • Outstanding clinical teaching skills
  • Innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • ECMO and LVAD program development (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Establish an Advanced Heart Failure program.
  • Provide direct heart failure patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Work with a team of peers and colleagues to oversee inpatient and outpatient heart failure program initiatives.
  • Assist with heart failure initiatives – including but not limited to, reduction in length of stay, observed to expected mortality, 30-day readmissions, adherence to core measures and other publicly reported data, optimized transitions of care.
  • Represent the heart failure program and its activities within Capital Health system and at hospital level committees as needed.
  • Assist in the development of an advanced heart failure LVAD program.
  • Assist the development of an advanced heart failure ECMO program.
  • Establish an advanced heart failure research program.
  • Improve operational efficiency of heart failure management including implementation of computer-based reporting and data.
  • Demonstrate transparency and integrity in interactions with physicians and staff, promoting trust in the institutional and departmental leadership.
  • Foster excellent communications, teamwork, and cooperation in carrying out the clinical, educational, and mission of the cardiovascular service line.
