The Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown is a 168-bed nursing home facility with two levels of care offered - standard care for veterans in need of any intermediate level of care, and memory care for veterans with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in resident care management to assure provision of adequate & comprehensive services including assisting with the development of policies & procedures
  • Ensures medical compliance of Veterans Administration (VA) and Ohio Department of Health (ODH) rules and regulations
  • Organizes medical staff and provides consultation to the organization's health care providers
  • Meets on a regular basis with Pharmacy Operations Manager to ensure availability of current drugs
  • Assists in monitoring & evaluating the quality and appropriateness of medical services and patient care
  • Insures annual physicals, chest x-rays and EKGs are completed as per VA requirement
  • Coordinates transfer to V.A. hospitals for consultation or more acute hospitalization
  • Coordinates referrals for specialty care at both the VAMC and area Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC)
  • Confers with families & veterans regarding patient's prognosis & treatment
  • Participates on relevant committees to discuss goals & objectives and to integrate unit functions
  • Assists as needed in development of ongoing in-service training for staff

Requirements

  • Certificate to practice medicine as issued by State Medical Board pursuant to Sections 4731.14 & 4731.281 of Revised Code
