About The Position

The position involves evaluating patients, planning treatment programs, and providing physical therapy interventions. The physical therapist will delegate and supervise activities performed by others, ensuring quality patient care. The role includes assessing patients based on prescriptions from referring medical professionals, establishing treatment goals, and communicating plans to patients and caregivers. The therapist will also document medical records, modify treatment programs as necessary, and supervise the work of Physical Therapy Assistants, Athletic Trainers, and students/interns. The position requires cooperation with support staff to enhance the efficiency of non-clinical services and participation in various meetings and continuing education.

Requirements

• Current/non-restricted State of Michigan Physical Therapist License.
• PT experience preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and adapt to changing work situations.
• Knowledge and skills to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, and safety criteria.

Nice To Haves

• Manual therapy skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess patients based on written prescriptions.
• Establish reasonable goals with patients and/or families.
• Communicate treatment plans and progress to patients and caregivers.
• Instruct patients and families in home programs.
• Perform treatment using available modalities and techniques.
• Document medical records according to established criteria.
• Re-evaluate patients and modify treatment programs as needed.
• Delegate tasks to PTA's, ATC's, Rehab Aides, and students/interns.
• Supervise interventions provided by PTA's, ATC's, and others.
• Cooperate with support staff for efficient non-clinical services.
• Participate in inservices, staff meetings, and continuing education.
