About The Position

San Diego Unified School District is currently accepting applications for the position of Physical Therapy Specialist. This promotional / open opportunity is open to all interested candidates. BASIC FUNCTION: The Physical Therapy Specialist will provide assessment, consultation, and direct physical therapy to students enrolled in or referred to special education programs; collaborate with general and special education staff and parents to identify strategies, methods and patterns of instructional support. VACANCY / POSITION SPECIFICS: Working Location: Related and Specialized Services Department supprts various locations throughout the District. The District covers a large portion of San Diego County. Work Schedule: Positions typically work 10 months (217 days) or 11 months (239 days) per year. Salary: This position is paid on the OTBS Salary Schedule. Grade 063. Vacancies that require the incumbent to be Bilingual in English/Spanish will be noted. Candidates considered for positions that require bilingual skills will be invited to a Performance Test (Qualifying Only) for oral and written fluency. Bilingual positions qualify for a 5% bilingual differential. This is a PROMOTIONAL/OPEN opportunity, which means that current monthly salaried employees receive precedence over other candidates on the eligible list. Requirements

  • A combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to graduation from an approved school of physical therapy and California license as a Physical Therapist
  • Possession of a current and valid license issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California to practice physical therapy

Nice To Haves

  • clinical affiliation in pediatrics is desirable
  • experience working with children in a physical therapy or educational setting is highly desirable
