About The Position

The Physical Therapy Reimbursement and Authorization Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating patient care by managing insurance verification, obtaining prior authorizations, and scheduling physical therapy services. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills to educate patients about their benefits and ensure compliance with medical record regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with 2-5 years' experience in registration tasks and obtaining Prior Authorizations.
  • Documented training and experience in maintenance of medical records.
  • Experience with eClinical works EHR systems is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and physiology.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with third party resources such as Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Insurance.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, capable of multi-tasking with excellent communication skills.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Windows operating systems - Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and ability to pass a background check.

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical record confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up employee patient payment plans for Physical Therapy services.
  • Verifying the patient's Physical therapy insurance benefit eligibility and coordination of benefits.
  • Verifying and obtaining Prior Authorizations prior to scheduled appointments.
  • Explaining insurance benefits to patients.
  • Managing payments and overdue payments.
  • Ensuring patient Physical Therapy benefits and PT documents are up-to-date in the medical record.
  • Entering data into medical record for tracking patient's PT benefit.
  • Handling incoming phone calls and directing inquiries appropriately.
  • Verifying and calculating all insurance eligibility for Physical Therapy and receiving all insurance co-pay payments.
  • Scheduling evaluations and subsequent visits per PT Plan of Care after obtaining Prior Authorizations.
  • Maintaining patient care database by entering new information and verifying findings.
  • Greeting patients arriving to PT Department, checking patients in and out, and answering PT phone calls.
  • Safeguarding confidentiality of medical charts/electronic health records and complying with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collecting copays and financial arrangement payments from patients.
