The Physical Therapist Assistant will assist the Physical Therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • At least 2 years' experience (preferred).
  • Current Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) state license.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Position requires the ability to lift and move objects, weighting up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physical therapists in delivering physical therapy treatments and procedures.
  • Administer traction treatments to alleviate neck and back pain.
  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in learning and improving functional activities.
  • Fit, adjust, and train patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
  • Observe patients during treatments, compiling and evaluating data on their responses and progress, then report findings to the physical therapist.
  • Measure patients’ range of joint motion, body part length and girth, and vital signs to assess the effects of specific treatments and assist physical therapists in patient evaluations.
  • Collaborate with physical therapy staff and other healthcare team members to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information, ensuring coordinated treatment planning and adjustments.
  • Provide orientation and training to new physical therapy assistants and supervise physical therapy aides.
  • Monitor treatments administered by physical therapy aides, ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards.
  • Perform clerical duties, including taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering phones, taking messages, and completing forms.
