About The Position

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team in Owego, NY. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Physical Therapist Assistant program or equivalent with Associate’s of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant
  • Licensed or license-eligible by NY state as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • CPR certification within the first three months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A combination of up to two years of education, training and clinical experience in an outpatient setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver treatment procedures as directed by the supervising physical therapist, including patient preparation, education, and use of rehabilitation equipment; may administer standardized tests under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting treatment progress and compliance with reimbursement and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate patient condition changes to the physical therapist for possible treatment adjustments or further evaluation.
  • Submit timely and accurate billing according to UHS policies.
  • Assist with discharge planning, patient/family education, and coordinate post-discharge referrals and durable medical equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with physical therapists, other healthcare professionals, patients, and families to support comprehensive care and participate in care conferences.
  • Provide guidance to departmental aides, volunteers, and students; contribute to performance improvement and department initiatives.
  • Adhere to emergency protocols, ethical standards (APTA Code of Ethics), infection control, and facility cleanliness.
  • Participate in ongoing education, clinical in-services, and maintain required licensure and certifications.
  • Meet individual and departmental productivity goals while fostering a professional and supportive environment.
