About The Position

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0.01 Work Shift: Days (United States of America) Physical Therapy Assistant Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, VA PRN (as needed) Two weekend days per month plus at least one holiday per year (Saturday and/or Sunday; 7AM - 3PM), flat rate Please note: Prior acute care experience highly preferred Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The Physical Therapy Assistant provides skilled therapeutic interventions to patients using their educational skills and knowledge. Documents patient treatment and progress toward goals in the patient electronic health record. Implements established treatment programs and provides patient and family education. Services the patients as a part of the entire continuum of professional care. Essential Job Functions Provides age-appropriate therapeutic interventions as directed by the Physical Therapist and monitors response to treatment. Maintains accurate and concise records on treatment provided and patient's progress. Maintains set level of productivity without jeopardizing quality. Precepts in the direction and evaluation of Assistant clinical experience / internship of students from participating colleges, universities, or schools. Maintains departmental policies and procedures regarding safety, infection control, time off requests and timecard recording. Observes and reports patients’ responses to treatment and progress and reports orally and/or in writing to the Physical Therapist. Collaborates with Physical Therapist and other health team members to exchange and discuss patient information for planning, modifying and coordinating treatment programs. Requirements

  • Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of current practice (required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for BSMH, required at hire for RSFH)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior acute care experience highly preferred
