Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
Current Physical Therapy Assistant license from the state of Colorado
Knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services
At least one year of experience as a physical therapy assistant preferred
Ability to remain calm in emergency or crisis situations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities

Providing direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, assisting with treatment interventions and therapeutic exercises
Assisting in reviewing patients’ functional needs and reporting observations to the supervising Physical Therapist to support optimal patient outcomes
Implementing established plans of care as directed by the Physical Therapist, incorporating participation by significant others whenever appropriate
Conducting therapy practice within defined standards of care and in accordance with the Physical Therapist’s treatment plan
Directing the assistance of support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals
Communicating effectively with the supervising Physical Therapist, other professionals, and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes
Following facility and departmental policies and procedures, including quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
Documenting treatment sessions, patient responses, and progress notes; regularly updating documentation and maintaining records as required
Enhancing professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops
