About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for carrying out various physical therapy procedures under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. State licensure is required. The role involves providing treatment to relieve pain and to develop or restore function as ordered on the Plan of Care, along with accurate documentation. The assistant teaches the use of assistive devices and equipment to patients and caregivers. The position requires conducting patient home visits in the Kissimmee, Celebration, St. Cloud, and Osceola County area.

Requirements

  • Graduated from a physical therapist assistant curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Currently licensed and registered in the state of Florida.
  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Valid Florida driver's license, safe driving record and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out various physical therapy procedures under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
  • Provides treatment to relieve pain and to develop or restore function as ordered on Plan of Care.
  • Provides accurate documentation.
  • Teaches use of assistive devices and equipment to patients and caregivers.
  • Observes, records and reports to physician any untoward reactions to treatment.
  • Instructs and supervises family members to provide continuous therapy and home treatment plan.
  • Maintains open communication with case manager.
  • Submits daily log and charge sheets to Home Health office.
  • Maintains communication with scheduler regarding caseload limitations.
  • Participates in case conferences.
  • Maintains open communication with primary Therapist.
  • Possesses excellent time management skills.
  • Meets agency's expectations regarding productivity.
  • Provides in-service training to staff as requested.
