About The Position

The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for administering physical therapy modalities of treatment under the supervision of the staff Physical Therapist. This role involves administering treatments and physical agents as directed by the staff Physical Therapist, following the evaluation of the patient. The Physical Therapy Assistant plays a crucial role in assisting with the restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability resulting from injury, disease, or physical disability. The assistant helps patients achieve their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within their capabilities. Additionally, the Physical Therapy Assistant participates in the operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities, and engages in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.

Requirements

• AA degree from a school or college approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Current certificate/licensure as Physical Therapy Assistant.
• Current BCLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Administer physical therapy modalities of treatment as supervised by the staff Physical Therapist.
• Administer treatments and physical agents as directed by the staff Physical Therapist after patient evaluation.
• Assist with the restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability.
• Help patients reach their maximum performance and level of functioning.
• Participate in operational aspects of the department.
• Maintain performance improvement activities within the department.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
