About The Position

The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assists the Staff Therapist with patient related activities and direct patient care. This position is responsible for treating patients as directed by the Physical Therapist, recording daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board, and assisting in maintaining the department. The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant will participate in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed, assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area, and treat patients per the physician treatment plan. Additionally, the role involves assisting the nursing department with training of Restorative Aides, communicating with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, and participating in in-service training programs for other staff in the facility. The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant will also instruct patients' families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services, report any problems with department equipment, and must relate positively and effectively with patients, families, staff, and professional colleagues.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Staff Physical Therapy Assistant Board of the States.
  • Proficient in computer skills such as inputting data into programs such as Casamba and Point Click Care.
  • Ability to read technical procedures and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and families.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Employee must meet continuing education requirements per state practices.
  • Must maintain a license in good standing at all times with the state board.
