About The Position

Physical therapy assistants (PTA) will be expected to plan, organize, and conduct pediatric physical therapy programs to facilitate growth and motor development. The PTA will conduct therapy in such areas as fine/gross motor skill development, quality of motor integration, sensory modulation, self-care and activities of daily living, following a treatment plan as established by a supervising Physical Therapist and monitor progress for each child on his/her caseload. The therapist is expected to maintain thorough, up-to-date treatment notes on each client, and develop appropriate home programs for clients when applicable. The PTA is expected to facilitate developmental strategies for perceptual, motor and sensory improvement. This position requires independent clinical judgment, well-developed communication skills, and the ability to work well with coworkers and families of clients. Physical therapy assistants are expected to work in conjunction with the primary physical therapist in carry-through of therapy treatment programs. PTAs will demonstrate sound judgement for the safety of the child, and work in conjunction with the PT to determine effectiveness of the therapy program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • An active license to practice physical therapy in the state of Maryland
  • Effective written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of clinical experience in a pediatric therapy setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in conducting treatments in pediatric clinic-based settings.

Responsibilities
