About The Position

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) position is a full-time role located in Chicago Southeast, primarily working Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional weekends and holidays as needed. The PTA will develop and maintain restorative relationships with patients, following Advocate's MVP of Compassion, and will be responsible for providing quality care, improving patient outcomes, and participating in professional development and business growth initiatives. The role requires extensive travel within geographical boundaries and adherence to scheduled work hours.

Requirements

  • Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Illinois or eligible for licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 6 months of employment.
  • A valid driver's license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
  • 2 years of clinical experience or strong clinical affiliation experience.
  • Basic knowledge of computer use, including Microsoft Word and email.
  • Good interpersonal skills and time management abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with home-based therapy equipment and assistive devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a restorative relationship with patients throughout the healthcare continuum.
  • Incorporate an individualized approach to the plan of care as established by the supervising therapist.
  • Assess patient and family readiness and involve them in treatment and care.
  • Facilitate the patient and family's right to receive quality cost-effective care.
  • Participate in quality/process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Work with the patient care team to formulate an integrated approach to care.
  • Support discharge plans for assigned patients and coordinate post-discharge care.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that enhance productivity and understanding of financial conditions in healthcare.
  • Assess patient and family readiness to learn and modify educational approaches as necessary.
