About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is a community of individuals dedicated to changing the world through teaching, discovery, and patient care. The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) position in Acute Care Inpatient involves providing physical therapy treatment to patients with impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in health status due to various causes. The PTA will work with minimal guidance from a Physical Therapist and will actively collaborate with the healthcare team to meet patient care objectives. This full-time role requires working Monday to Friday with one weekend day per month.

Requirements

  • Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
  • Adult acute care experience required
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Passion for patient education and rehabilitation

Responsibilities

  • Deliver therapeutic interventions based on physical therapist treatment plans
  • Educate patients and families to support recovery and independence
  • Document patient progress and collaborate with the care team
  • Contribute to discharge planning and transition strategies
  • Apply evidence-based therapy techniques and modify plans as needed
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families
  • Assist in planning for the discharge needs of the patient
