About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) position is a PRN (as needed) role within the Home Health sector, specifically covering Marion and Dillon Counties. The PTA maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. The role involves providing physical therapy treatment under the direction of a licensed physical therapist and is supervised by the Team Clinical Manager at McLeod Home Health. The PTA is responsible for therapy related to a variety of physical and functional limitations, documenting progress with measurable and functional goals. The position requires independent maintenance of patient records, adherence to hospital policies, and effective communication with medical personnel regarding treatment and patient progress.

Requirements

  • Zero to one year of related work experience.
  • Must possess a current valid South Carolina driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Must be at least 21 years old to be covered under McLeod Health's fleet vehicle insurance policy.
  • License and registration as required by state law.
  • PTA License.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Possession of professional liability insurance is encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy treatment under the direction of a licensed physical therapist.
  • Maintain patient records according to hospital policy, completing daily record keeping and contributing to status updates and discharge summaries.
  • Foster an environment of caring, compassion, and respect for all patients, families, visitors, and employees.
  • Utilize Service Excellence Standards to address customer needs and handle complaints effectively.
  • Demonstrate continued professional growth through goal setting and participation in educational offerings.
  • Communicate with physicians and other medical personnel regarding treatment provided and patient progress.
  • Adhere to SC State LLR and SC State Practice Act guidelines, as well as McLeod Health policies and procedures.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality through proper maintenance of Protected Health Information.
  • Utilize appropriate health and safety equipment to protect patients, self, and staff.
