About The Position

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides various treatment programs and procedures in collaboration with supervisors and other staff therapists. This role actively participates as a member of the healthcare team to engage patients, families, and caregivers in the coordination of patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program for physical therapy assistants.
  • Experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting is preferred.
  • Must possess current licensure to practice in Pennsylvania.
  • Must complete the American Heart Association's Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renew BLS every two years.
  • Must possess or be eligible for Physical Therapist Assistant - Indirect Supervision License.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates maturity to function independently, organize work and set priorities appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Provides physical therapy treatments for patients based upon evaluation of a licensed therapist, effectively building rapport and trust.
  • Acts as an assistant to the therapist when the therapist is performing complex evaluations and treatments.
  • Executes the plan of care, measuring it at appropriate intervals and seeks advice about changes in the plan.
  • Provides patient education while assisting the patient in understanding home treatment and exercise programs.
  • Maintains proper documentation of patient records with physical therapists' supervision.
  • Maintains the physical orderliness of the facility.
  • Checks the treatment areas for proper arrangements of equipment on a daily basis and as needed during the day.
  • Assists the therapists and aide in cleaning equipment as necessary.
  • Encourages patients to complete the full course of therapy without discontinuing the plan of care.
  • Provides patients with effective Home Exercise Programs (HEPs).
  • Educates patients about benefits of fitness services provided by Fit for Play.
  • Maintains competency through self-study, peer review, and continuing education.
  • Understands proper documentation processes for compliance and billing purposes.
  • Completes all paperwork related to patient care.
