Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state of practice.
  • Must be available to travel to and temporarily reside in locations outside of the therapist's primary home.

Responsibilities

  • Travel nationwide for 13 week assignments as a Physical Therapist Assistant - Journey Traveler.
  • Provide physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist.
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of rehab services; adhere to an established plan of care, department and patient(s)' schedule, and timely documentation of services.
  • Collaborate with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.
  • Assist the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.
  • Instruct patients, families, and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
  • Maintain appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.
  • Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment, as necessary.
  • Ensure that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.
  • Implement a patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist.
  • Provide individualized physical therapy treatments including therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual therapy, airway clearance techniques, integumentary repair and protection, and use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent and mechanical modalities.
  • Organize and facilitate treatment groups in collaboration with the physical therapist.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
