About The Position

The Department of Physical Therapy is currently seeking a full time Physical Therapy Assistant 1 to work in Miami, FL. The Physical Therapy Assistant 1 assists with a patient's rehabilitative activities. Additionally, the incumbent facilitates exercise instruction and demonstration, and patient evaluation and testing. An employee in this position works with an emphasis on helping patients and clients suffering from injuries or diseases to restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Provide physical therapy treatment to patients in accordance with an established treatment plan as directed by a physical therapist. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to apply therapeutic principles and practices within the scope of professional limitations. Progress patients skillfully and safely through the levels of treatment within the maximum capabilities of the patient. Consult with supervising Physical Therapist regarding patient progress, changes in patient’s condition, or with suggestions for revisions in treatment. Documents all treatments and other pertinent patient interactions in accordance with UHealth policies. Develop and maintain effective communication with the patient, family, and other members of the rehabilitation team. Provides relevant education and information to patients and families regarding medical conditions, home exercise programs and home activities. Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner. Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis and real clinic need. Participates in quality and safety improvement activities. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal, local, and state guidelines and regulations, with strict adherence to HIPPA regulations. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. CORE QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associate Degree in relevant field Certification and Licensing: Certification in relevant specialty or field Experience: Career entry level, but 1 year of relevant experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes: Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Commitment to the University’s core values. Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment. DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM Department Specific Functions Assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Participate in quality and safety improvement activities as directed by the Departmental leadership. Participate in program development and marketing efforts as directed by the Departmental leadership. Orient, instruct and direct work activities for support personnel as appropriate.   • 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  • New graduate, entry-level accepted, although some experience is preferred.
