Requirements

  • They must have a valid and unencumbered Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license and eligibility.
  • They must have a qualifying degree in Physical Therapy.
  • They must have a current CPR Certification.
  • Valid CPR certification required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective leadership and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment with initiative in analyzing and solving problems.
  • Maintains professional attitudes and respect for the school and their staff.
  • Treats all students with dignity, compassion, empathy and respect.
  • Proven track record with high volume workloads.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical experience with the pediatric population preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implements treatment plans that focus on functional and measurable outcomes to be shared with the school and/or supervisors, as mandated in the student’s Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Consults with other professionals (Teachers, SLP, OT, PCP, etc.) on the student's treatment team to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive therapy team.
  • Assesses and documents each student’s progress through formal and informal tests and measurements.
  • Writes and prepares annual review reports and goals for each student in accordance with their IEP dates and requirements, in order to remain in compliance with state guidelines.
  • Attends all school related meetings as scheduled, such as, but not limited to, Triennials, Annual Reviews, Domains, Referrals, IEP, and pre-IEP meetings for each individual student.
  • Provides screenings and evaluations to determine requirements for skilled physical therapy intervention relative to the student/client’s level of function within the school environment. This includes, but is not limited to the following areas: school function, range of motion, strength, positioning, contracture management, and conducting home assessments.
