About The Position

PRN Physical therapist to cover outpatients when regularly scheduled therapists are out on leave as well as for influx of referrals. Evaluates and treats patients referred by a licensed physician in accordance with the Practice Act for the State of Georgia, the Guidelines for Professional Conduct of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and the APTA Guide to Professional Practice. Actively supervises and participates in the care of patients treated by Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants and Athletic Trainers. Complies with hospital policies and supports the mission and values of the hospital. II. Position Requirements: A: Licensure/Certification/Registration: The Physical Therapist must be duly licensed by the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy. B. Education: The Physical Therapist must be a graduate of an APTA or other accredited school of Physical Therapy. Physical Therapists may have Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degrees. C: Experience: Physical Therapists should have as a minimum, broad experience in a variety of different clinical settings through their APTA or other accredited clinical internship programs. D. Special Qualifications: Must have a working knowledge of the principles and practices of Physical Therapy, including evaluation, treatment planning, modality applications, and all manner of therapeutic exercise and patient mobility treatments. Should also be knowledgeable of required documentation and billing that satisfies the Georgia State practice act, JCAHO requirements, and meets the requirements of Medicare, Medicaid , and other insurers. Must be able to plan, organize and coordinate therapy treatments with other therapy providers, most notably Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants (LPTA’s), Occupational Therapists (OTR’s), and Speech Therapists (SLP’s). Must be able to work collaboratively with all other members of the St. Mary's Health Care System, including nurses, physicians, and hospital personnel. Must be able to deal constructively with conflict;collect, analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources and take appropriate action. Must be able to relate to physician referral sources and demonstrate excellent customer service. Must be willing and able to participate in clinical quality measurement and performance improvement programs as requested, and be in compliance with all of St. Mary's Health Care System policies and procedures.
