About The Position

Shriners Children's Chicago has an opportunity for a PRN Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing physical therapy services of consultation, evaluation, and direct treatment in care of orthopedic, spinal cord injury (SCI), plastic surgery and rehabilitation patients. In this position, you will have the unique opportunity to help our patient through their journey from the moment the child is brought through the door through the time the child leaves to go home. You'll get to help our kids grow into the new person that they want to be. You will provide evaluations and therapy services, education and training to meet the needs of our patients. The successful candidate will get the opportunity to learn and grow in their practice by being exposed to multiple settings. Hours: We are looking for someone to work up to 40 hours a week in our Rehab department during the summer. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy
  • Illinois PT license
  • One year rehab/therapy experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or Doctorate in Physical Therapy
  • Pediatric experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs accurate and timely initial and discharge evaluations and assessments of progress based on interview, observation and specific test results which take into account the age and development level of the child.
  • Performs standardized assessments in an accurate manner for appropriate patients and gives summary of results to family and team members on an ongoing basis.
  • Uses advanced Physical Therapy skills to implement a comprehensive and individualized treatment program for a diverse patient population incorporating principles of growth and development into all aspects of care.
  • Provides direct Physical Therapy Services including strength, balance, flexibility, endurance, gait, transfer and mobility training and developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Conducts clinic screening and discusses findings with the patient, family, and physician, as appropriate.
  • Initiates discharge equipment needs for inpatients in conjunction with the Care Coordination Department.
  • Provides evaluations of and recommendations for equipment on an ongoing basis.
  • Provides timely and accurate documentation in support of acquisition of equipment.
  • Makes minor modifications in adaptive equipment and assists in the fabrication of temporary orthotics.
