JOB TITLE: Physical Therapist GOVERNMENT AGENCY & LOCATION: Davis Monthan AFB Tucson, Arizona JOB SUMMARY: The Contractor shall provide Physical Therapy services in accordance with the specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Arizona Air National Guard and the AZ Air National Guard. Contractor shall provide care services ONLY as outlined herein.

Requirements

  • Must speak and write English proficiently.
  • Must have the ability and credentialing to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Provide care within a 50-mile radius to location, but not mandatory.
  • Provide outpatient care for patients with musculoskeletal disorders and any emergent conditions.
  • Answer beneficiary questions related to evaluations, prescriptions, or any pre-operative/post-operative questions and care.
  • Conduct routine examinations, as well as specialized tests.
  • Maintain professional customer relations. Meet the needs of customers while supporting unit missions.
  • Must ensure that all clinical privileges are up to date with the National Standards.
  • Must keep unit leadership informed of administrative issues as early as possible once issues are observed.
  • Must be accountable for compliance with patient standards and maintaining a high standard of care.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's Preferred) in an accredited exercise science, health science, or physical education-related discipline. Possess and maintain current certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or the Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCA). Maintenance of this certification shall be an enduring element of the requirement.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable, accumulated post-professional experience in physical therapy, particularly in sports medicine with individual athletes and groups (NCAA Division I, Olympic, professional, and/or Special Operations/AFSPECWAR Operators preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provide musculoskeletal injury care, utilizing approved supplemental clinical privileges including the ordering of imaging studies, laboratory tests, basic pharmaceuticals, joint injections, and referrals to specialty providers, with consistent, appropriate, and required documentation.
  • Utilize screening information to develop rehabilitation protocol and interventions if needed.
  • Assist in the development of the unit’s rehabilitation system in accordance with all local, state, and national laws and regulations, as well as licensing and insurance certification.
  • Review and evaluate physician's referrals and patients' records to determine physical therapy treatment requirements.
  • Perform patient tests, measurements, and evaluations and record findings to aid in developing and/or revising specifics of the treatment program or training program.
  • Participate in periodic meetings with HPO staff for reviewing care provided to patients and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Serve as an advisor to unit leadership in matters related to injury prevention, Sports Medicine (SM), and rehabilitation.
  • Conduct equipment, product, and literature reviews to ensure the HP program stays current with the provision of care.
  • Provide input for the development and utilization of required databases.
  • Conduct peer (record) reviews for the HP Staff as directed.
  • Assist unit leadership in developing and updating criteria-based job descriptions and performance standards.
  • Assist unit leadership in developing and maintaining clinical practice guidelines to ensure consistency of care across the program.
  • Assist with the preparation of short and long-term fiscal plans. Submit input to unit leadership.
  • Develop and promulgate training materials as requested and required by unit leadership.
  • Ensure safe and effective operation of equipment used for patient care.
  • Participate in periodic in-service training for members of Rescue HP staff as appropriate. Maintain 100% compliance with any Air Force Reserve Command required continuing education for providers.
  • Attend required training in accordance with guiding instructions. Unit will allow for attendance at necessary conferences and/or courses to complete continuing education units required to maintain certification. Coordination must occur at least 30 days before the event.
  • Document care and work performed in the Military’s Electronic Health Record (i.e., Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), GENESIS, etc.) as directed by unit leadership and/or higher headquarters.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with other HPO staff members and medical providers as requested and/or required.
  • Collect and report all data as requested by the unit leadership and AFSPECWAR staff.
  • Maintain capability of meeting physical demands of training with Special Operation Forces (SOF) including the ability to hike over rough terrain and function in austere environments to observe SOF training evolutions, the ability to assist with strength and conditioning testing and training protocols, and the ability to lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 20 kilograms.
