About The Position

The Physical Therapist is primarily responsible for the delivery of physical therapy care to the patient population to which she/he is assigned and the recording of that care in the hospital medical record. The therapist acts as a consultant to various patient clinics, provides instruction to PT support staff, students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patient and/or family members. Therapists may rotate through our various clinical service areas.

Requirements

  • Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
  • Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
  • Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
  • New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as a Physical Therapist
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy

Nice To Haves

  • Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility
  • Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy

Responsibilities

  • Patient evaluation and implementation of plan of care
  • Discharge planning
  • Ordering equipment
  • Representing department at rounds and discharge conferences
  • Scheduling and charging patients
  • Employee may have supervisory responsibilities of Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Technicians, students, and volunteers
  • Employee is a member of a self-directed team and applies his/her knowledge and experience in daily clinic problem solving
  • The team will bring unresolved issues to departmental manager for assistance and guidance in their resolution
  • Schedules and work hours will be established with your specific Manager
  • Schedules, including weekends and holidays, will be required based on the unit’s organizational and staffing needs
