Physical Therapist Responsibilities As a Physical Therapist (PT) , you will provide comprehensive rehabilitation services and individualized treatment plans for patients recovering from injury, surgery, or illness. Key responsibilities include:

Requirements

Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program
Physical Therapist License in State
Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of hire
critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

Perform initial evaluations and ongoing patient assessments to determine therapy needs and functional limitations
Develop and implement customized physical therapy treatment plans based on physician orders and patient goals
Utilize evidence-based therapy techniques to restore mobility, improve strength, and reduce pain
Administer therapeutic modalities such as heat therapy, ultrasound, and other physical therapy treatments
Educate patients and families on injury prevention, mobility strategies, and home exercise programs
Evaluate and fit prosthetic and orthotic devices when appropriate
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans to maximize rehabilitation outcomes
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and patient records
Supervise and guide Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs), therapy aides, and students
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver quality patient care
