About The Position

This position is primarily in acute care. Standard work hours are M - F 7:30am - 4::00pm. Saturday and holiday rotation are required. The Physical Therapist I job is primarily responsible for the delivery of physical therapy care to the patient population to which she/he is assigned and the recording of that care in the hospital medical record. The Physical Therapist acts as a consultant to various patient clinics, provides instruction to PT support staff, students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patient and/or family members. Therapists may also rotate through our various clinical service areas.

Requirements

• Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
• Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
• Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
• New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as a Physical Therapist
• Employee is expected to progress to a Physical TherapistClinician II level within two years of employment at VCUHS
• Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy

Nice To Haves

• Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility
• Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy

Responsibilities

• Patient evaluation and implementation of plan of care
• Discharge planning
• Ordering equipment
• Representing department at rounds and discharge conferences
• Scheduling and charging patients
• Supervisory responsibilities of Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Technicians, students, and volunteers
• Member of a self-directed team and applies his knowledge and experience in daily clinic problem solving
• Share in weekend and holiday schedule expectations of the department or have a fluctuation of daily work hours from 8 AM to 7 PM based on patient population needs
