About The Position

The Physical Therapist is a skilled member of the health care team responsible for providing therapeutic services to patients. This involves conducting initial assessments, performing therapeutic procedures and interventions in accordance with hospital policies and applicable law. The PT treats disabilities, injuries, and diseases using therapeutic techniques based on physician prescriptions, and conducts testing and evaluation procedures on patients. The role requires strong organizational and time management skills, as well as excellent communication skills for professional interactions. The Physical Therapist must possess the knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care to patients across all age groups served in the hospital and outpatient clinic. This includes understanding growth and development principles, assessing patient data to identify age-specific needs, and delivering care according to unit policies and skill checklists. The PT also supervises Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA's) and technicians in line with state and professional supervision requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Physical Therapy, BS, MS degree or DPT Program
  • Degree in related field with certificate in Physical Therapy will be considered
  • Licensed by the State of Texas Board of Physical Therapist
  • Certification level courses (ACLS, BLS, NRP, etc.) as per department specific competencies
  • Possess good organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate good communication skills to interact with individuals appropriately, on a professional basis

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic services to patients through the use of initial assessments, therapeutic procedures and interventions in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the hospital and applicable law
  • Treat disabilities, injuries, and disease through the use of therapeutic techniques according to prescriptions from a physician
  • Perform testing and evaluation procedures on patients
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served throughout the hospital and outpatient clinic
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
  • Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the units policies and procdures and skills check lists
  • Supervise PTA's and technicians according to state and professional supervision requirements
