About The Position

St. John’s United (SJU) is looking for Physical Therapy staff for all of our care areas, transitional care, outpatient and long term care. We service outpatient clients in 3 locations including aquatic therapy in 2 locations. We specialize in providing the full continuum of care from long term residents to community outpatients. Our rehab department values innovation, program development and personalized care to all our clients. We are hiring for a full-time, part-time, and per diem status employee. SUMMARY: Provides services to residents/patients of this facility and the clients of contract facilities that have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Montana preferably with one to two years related experience.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions

  • Requires moderate physical work more than 50% of the time, including lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking, and bending for prolonged periods of time.
  • Work involves some exposure to hazards, blood borne pathogens, or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

  • Work involves exposure to plants and animals within the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Tests, evaluates and screens resident/patient/client physical and mental abilities and analyzes medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for that individual.
  • Assists residents/patients/clients in restoring health, alleviating pain, and examining, evaluating, and diagnosing impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes.
  • Recommends changes to resident’s/patient’s/client’s plan of care, consistent with their needs and capabilities.
  • Provides prevention and promote health, wellness, and fitness.
  • Interacts and practices in collaboration with the resident/patient/client, family, rehabilitation team, other healthcare professionals and staff.
  • Directs and supervises the physical therapy service, including support personnel (physical therapy assistants and rehabilitation technicians) according to the APTA and Montana State Practice Guidelines
  • Performs post-employment physicals with new hired staff.
  • Provides ongoing in-services to rehab team and staff, and CNA training
  • Attends all appropriate meetings
  • Completes and maintain necessary records
  • Evaluates resident/patient/client progress and prepare reports that detail progress
  • Provides training and supervision in therapy techniques, and objectives for nursing and non-nursing staff with this facility and contract facilities.
  • Advises on health risks in the workplace.
  • Follows safety policies of St. John's United.
  • Identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards
  • Attends mandatory safety in-services
  • Supports the growth and actively engages in the Eden Alternative philosophy, including a work environment with plants and animals.

  • Follows policy and procedures on annual TB testing.
  • Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Rehab.
