About The Position

The Physical Therapist develops and provides physical therapy services to referred patients and serves as a patient advocate within the Therapy Department. This role plays a critical part in helping pediatric patients regain mobility, improve functional independence, and achieve meaningful recovery outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy required
  • Licensed Physical Therapist by the Physical Therapy Board of Texas
  • Current CPR certification
  • Behavioral management/de-escalation training as required (SAMA, ABA, PIP, or similar)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy preferred

Responsibilities

  • Screens, evaluates, and treats assigned patients.
  • Completes patient evaluations within 72 hours of physician referral.
  • Develops effective, individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and physician orders.
  • Provides evidence-based interventions and monitors patient progress.
  • Communicates regularly with the Director of Rehabilitation, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress and care plans.
  • Participates in patient care conferences, rehabilitation meetings, and other required clinical meetings.
  • Coordinates daily with PTAs regarding patient goals, status, and plan of care.
  • Documents treatments, progress, outcomes, and required regulatory information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Records daily treatments and charges per department policy.
  • Performs department audits to maintain quality standards.
  • Ensures compliance with state regulations and national physical therapy standards.
  • Instructs parents/caregivers on home exercise programs, safety practices, and proper use of DME.
  • Participates in discharge planning and helps secure necessary adaptive and durable medical equipment.
  • Provides excellent customer service to patients and families.
  • Supervises PTAs and rehabilitation technicians.
  • Acts as a clinical preceptor for affiliating PT or PTA programs.
  • Participates in staff in-services and ongoing professional development.
  • Maintains equipment appropriately to ensure proper function and longevity.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
