JOB DETAILS Job Class Description: Physical Therapist Class Code: 7291 Job Title: Physical Therapist Supervisory Responsibilities: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Position Type: FULL-TIME FLSA Classification: NON-EXEMPT Reports To: Director of Special Education/Designee Location: District wide Compensation: Commensurate with salary range on the DCPS Salary Schedule for class code Hours Per Day: 7.0 hours Contracted Days: 185 days QUALIFICATIONS Required: ? Graduation from an accredited program in Physical Therapy ? Valid PT license by the State of Kentucky Knowledge Of: ? Principles and techniques of physical therapy ? Laws and regulation concerning special education, medical records and therapeutic services ? Neurology, anatomy, physiology- including gross/fine motor, sensory, perceptual, and manipulation skill. ? Physical Therapy evaluation instruments ? Methods, materials and equipment used to alter existing or fabricate specialized equipment. ? Basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer, e-mail, and websites ? Record-keeping techniques ? Health and safety regulations. ? Oral and written communication skills ? Research methods and report writing techniques ? Assistive technology ? Nature and needs of students with disabilities JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary: Assist in developing, implementing and evaluating programs and procedures for physical therapy and assessment; provide physical therapy to eligible students. Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities: ? Assist in developing, implementing and evaluating programs and procedures for physical therapy and assessment; assist in developing and reviewing Individual Education Plan therapy goals, make recommendations and adjust as appropriate; and interpret program to parents and school staff. ? Assist in research, evaluate and interpret data and other information regarding the effectiveness of the physical program and submit periodic reports as requested. ? Conduct evaluations, maintain records and prepare reports concerning individual students; review medical and therapy reports to assure compliance with established laws, regulations and procedures. ? Operate a variety of therapeutic equipment and assistive technology devices; train others in the use of such equipment as necessary; maintain equipment in proper working condition. ? Remain current concerning technological advances and other matters concerning physical therapy; attend and participate in seminars, workshops and conferences; provide in-service training to teachers, instructional assistants and parents. ? Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited program in Physical Therapy
  • Valid PT license by the State of Kentucky
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of physical therapy
  • Knowledge of laws and regulation concerning special education, medical records and therapeutic services
