About The Position

A MercyOne Physical Therapist is responsible for providing physical therapy services as determined by medical direction, therapist judgment, patient needs and desires, and available facilities. Organize and conduct physical therapy programs in the hospital and community to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease or injury. Help patient reach his/her optimal physical abilities and learn to live within the limits of his/her capabilities. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapist educational program.
  • Maintain license to practice physical therapy in the state of Iowa.
  • Maintain current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain information from physician(s) needed for diagnosis, prescribed therapy, and patient evaluation.
  • Plan and implement appropriate therapy program for assigned patients, involving physical agents, such as heat, water, light and electricity.
  • Apply diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint and physical ability tests.
  • Direct and aid with manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, gait, and functional training.
  • Direct patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, canes, crutches, and prosthetic and orthotic devices.
