About The Position

The physical therapist evaluates and treats individuals with injuries or movement limitations to help restore mobility and reduce pain. They develop personalized treatment plans using exercises, manual therapy, and education to improve patients’ strength and function. Physical therapists also guide patients in preventing future injuries and maintaining long term physical wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • Current license through the state of Nebraska as a Physical Therapist
  • BLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Assist with orientation of new staff and volunteers working in the department.
  • Review the status of services.
  • Participate in the planning, coordination, and evaluation of services in the department.
  • Coordinate activities of all rehabilitative services personnel.
  • Maintain balanced caseloads and organize work schedules utilizing full and part time staff.
  • Assist in establishing standards for rehabilitation services and ensures that the standards are maintained by the staff.
  • Supervises physical therapy assistant and therapy aides.
  • Establish and maintain channels of communication with referring physicians, hospitals, etc.
  • Assist the patient’s physician with evaluation of the patient’s functional ability.
  • Determined realistic treatment goals, frequency and duration of treatment.
  • Establish a plan of treatment which is designed to accomplish treatment goals and is approved by the physician.
  • Administer treatment procedures and rehabilitative activities as approved by the physician for the purpose of relieving pain and developing or restoring functions to achieve maximal functional performance.
  • Reevaluate monthly, the status of the patient’s functional ability and the effectiveness of the therapy plan of treatment.
  • Instruct the patient, and family when applicable, in-home program to be continued in the therapist’s absence, when indicated.
  • Recorded and report to the referring physician any changes in the patient’s condition, suggested changes in patient’s orders, and implementation of discharge planning procedures when appropriate.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of physical therapy by participation in formal educational programs, workshops, and professional organizations.
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
