About The Position

Location: Pembroke Pines, Florida Memorial Rehabilitation Institute provides highly specialized care ranging from complex multiple trauma, stroke and brain injury to physical and speech therapy. Inpatient care is offered at Memorial Regional Hospital South, with outpatient care available in five different locations. We also have a home health team and resources for long-term care at Memorial Manor, while also offering therapy for pediatric developmental diagnosis through Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Summary: Evaluates and treats patient populations for physical therapy needs.

  • Accredited Program: Physical Therapy (Required)
  • BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS American Heart RQI E-Card (BLS AHA-RQI ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE)
  • BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)
  • Physical Therapist License (PT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Educates and counsels patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
  • Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support resources.
  • Plans or assists with patient discharge from therapy services.
  • Attains and applies advanced knowledge, competencies, and training.
  • Actively participates in discipline specific professional associations.
  • Functions as mentor, role model and resource for clinical skills, professional growth, patient advocacy and community service.
  • Designs and implements a plan of care which is appropriate to issues identified, required frequency of treatments, and involves the patient and family.
  • Supervises activities of physical therapy assistants, students and other support personnel.
  • Develops and presents educational programs for peers, other disciplines, and the community.
  • Leads performance improvement initiatives.
